民國60年代，林園工業區的牌子被高高掛起，隨之而來大量工作機會、補助、獎金、爆炸、黑煙......。林園人與工業區相互依賴卻又憎恨彼此，這種扭曲情結陷入了一代一代的輪迴。
林園高中的化工產學合作班就是這種情況下的產物，剛滿十八歲的高中生，臉上青澀還來不及褪去，旋即換上寬垮的工人服，進入中油擔任最低階的作業員。
